June 10, 2013Maquoketa athlete Trent Bollman is a key component for the Cardinals this summer on the baseball diamond. Their toughest test of the 2013 season may come later today as they battle the defending champions from Dyersville-Beckman.
"It is going to be a good game. They'll be throwing one of their top pitchers and we'll come out firing."
Bollman is well aware that their opponent has a lot of talent on their roster.
"I know that they can hit very well and have some good lefty pitchers. They are not going to make it easy on us."
The season overall is something that Bollman has had fun with so far.
"The season has been going good. We have a lot of good quality wins and split against Williamsburg. We are trying to get some pitchers going and things are starting to come around. It has been good so far."
Bollman knows that this group can continue getting better.
"It is just hitting overall and getting people on base. We want to get them over and just keep putting runs on the board."
There are also goals that Bollman and those around him want to accomplish.
"I would just say establishing our team roles and getting quality wins against good teams. We have to keep proving we can play against them."
Bollman's overall play has kept him on the radar of college coaches.
"Upper Iowa, Mid American Nazarene, Wayne State, and Truman State."
Clarke has been the only school thus far that has had Bollman on a visit.
"They have a good school and a good baseball program. It is close to Maquoketa so it'd be an honor to play or them. They have a quality program."
