How will Waukon respond to an off-season change in coaching?
Having a change in head coach is certainly difficult with a team many expects to compete for a championship. More than anything, this group must find a way to prove that they are a complete football team and not rely entirely on their All State. Fielding a complete team on both sides of the ball is vital.
Can Spirit Lake repeat as champions?
There certainly is potential but that will require a lot of younger athletes stepping up early and often. Tanner Kroon and Ben Spaeth are All State linemen but finding the athletes needed to move the chains and replace a stacked group of seniors will be tough.
Is Dyersville-Beckman the most athletic team in Class 2A?
It certainly helps the Blazers when they have Mitch Steger and Grant Hammann back in the fold. Each earned All State honors a season ago and made a name for themselves in track throughout the spring. As for the most athletic team, that is hard to tell at this point.
Who can stop West Marshall athlete Duncan Ferch?
After torching his district a year ago, Ferch may have some new linemen stepping in but he is heavily favored to get back over the 2,000 yard mark rushing. The team that many expect them to see eventually during the playoffs is Kuemper Catholic. The Knights did all that they could to contain him and hope to do it again if they meet this fall.
What 2012 sub .500 team has the best chance to make a run?
There is no doubt that the potential is there for CMB to be vastly improved throughout the fall. Zach Samson and Bryce Kemp are standout athletes who have excelled both in football but also track and other sports as well. Their ability to feed off of one another wil help make this team go.
