Assumption, Davenport
Their early exit at State a year ago may
not have been what Davenport Assumption had wanted but that loss to Western
Dubuque has their returning athletes as motivated as ever to finish the job in
2013. Leading scorer Billy Daniel is back for another go around and this
versatile senior remains one of Iowa's top players. He poured in 15 points
a game on the hardwood a year ago and is aiming to improve that while also
bettering his team. Throw in Matt Vonderhaar, Michael Knouse, Peter Doyle,
Colin Gould, and a number of other hungry athletes and the Knights have the
pieces to finish among the elite in Class 3A. A regular season schedule
loaded with 4A opponents certainly will help their chances when things get tough
in the playoffs.
