Overview
With much of their team originally expected back for this winter, Cedar
Rapids Prairie had finally hoped to turn the corner on the hardwood. That
has not been the case as the team transitions to another head coach while also
seeing leading scorer Michael Mims leave shortly after the season ended in order
to transfer to Xavier. It certainly was a tough blow for a program that
has struggled mightily with consistency over the last decade. Experience
will be on their side as Jalen Rima, Mitch Lorenz, JoJo Simpson, and a host of
others know what it takes to compete with the top teams across the MVC.
Buying in to the new coaching staff along with improvements defensively (they
gave up 61 points a game last winter) could determine just how success this unit
can be throughout the season.
