level is getting higher and higher for the 2014 baseball season. Iowa Preps
continues our team previews and takes an in-depth look at Alta-Aurelia in this
article. See who they have returning and what our thoughts are on the team now!
With just two starters moving on from a team that won 19-games last summer,
Alta-Aurelia is confident that they can make a run this time around on the
diamond. Bringing back four players who hit above .300 in Jayden
VanBerkum, Ross Friedrich, Bryce Radke, and Josh McCormick will certainly help
their chances to put runs on the scoreboard. Throw in a busy off-season of
training and each should make a run at postseason honors when everything is said
and done. Experience, speed, and depth in the pitching staff are three
areas that this group will rely on to be successful. The pieces are there
if this group can come together and get the job done.

Team Strengths
Team Speed and experience. We played several young players last season and they
should be much more comfortable at the varsity level this season. Pitching
depth. We are fortunate to have good pitching depth in every class. We have some
nice young arms with a lot of upside potential.
Questions Marks
Hitting was our weakness last season but we have matured greatly since last
season. Catcher will be a question mark we need to fill but Jordan Wendel and
Bryce Radke should be able to take over where Alex Stephan left off behind the
plate.
