Despite having a young team, Fairfield won three games late in the fall and
the result was making a run to the postseason. They may have lost to Pella
in that battle but those extra practices along with the one extra game is
something that could really help this club going forward. Quarterback Cameron Baumann
stepped up as the season wore on and ended up throwing for 1,100 yards and
nine touchdowns. The most impressive thing about his year is that he did
it as a freshman and now has three seasons of high school football ahead of him
to continue growing and developing.
Baumann could potentially be one of
the best signal callers in the Class of 2017 if he continues to improve as a
player. He will need new wide outs to step up but Nick Jackson, Jordan
Reid, and Alex
Crile are all proven weapons. The trenches will be experienced with four
senior returning starters up front as well. The Trojans must be better defensively as
the 35 points a night they gave up just won't cut it. Dakota Nye, Narendra
Martin, and Zane Richmond are among six returning starters and must be better
this time around.
