this senior close to home instead of traveling to showcase his skills in front
of a variety of college coaches at camps.
"I did not make any camps. I was busy with baseball and didn't get a chance
to go to any camps."
Hovden's attention is set on getting ready for this fall.
"I'm still in the weight room just lifting. We got done with captain's
practice and we are doing the same stuff we did last year to get ready."
The season opens against a tough opponent in North Fayette Valley.
"I think it is going to be a pretty good game. Their sophomores played our
sophomores last year and beat us 46-21. It is a rivalry game to see who is the
better team in Northeast Iowa. It'll be a good one."
Hovden talked about the keys for the Vikings to have a great run.
"It is our line. It was the same question last year when we only returned one
or two starters. If our line plays strong on offense and defense we'll be fine."
A few different colleges have shown Hovden interest as of late.
"At this point, I haven't heard too much. I had a basic letter from Iowa
State and then some Ivy league schools."
