Phillips nearing an offer

FREE! Some may overlook him as an 8-Man player but there is little
doubt that Fremont-Mills athlete Spencer Phillips has the skills to play

football at the college level. This senior feels as if one Division I
college program may be close to extending an offer.
"I think probably the closest is Iowa State. Their coach was really excited
for me coming to their camps. When I left the camp, they were really excited
with what they saw."
The Cyclones are among the programs that Phillips has heard from on the
recruiting front.
"With Nebraska, I just signed up to go and watch some of their practices. I
have been in contact with Iowa State's recruiting coach for my area. I've also
heard from South Dakota and North Dakota State."
Phillips had a chance to showcase in front of many of those skills earlier in
the summer.
"I went to Iowa State, Nebraska, Kansas State, North Dakota State, and USD."
A few of the camps stood out more than others for Phillips.
"My favorite camps were Iowa State and Nebraska. I got to talk to a lot of
the coaches and did my best at those two camps. I made a good impression on the
coaches. At the University of South Dakota, I got an independent workout with
one of their coaches and that was pretty cool."
Phillips is excited for the start of the 2014 high school season as they
battle Woodbine in week one.
"We are already watching game film on them from last year. We already know
what they'll do. It is a good one to open up with since they are not the hardest
opponent. It will be good to get started."
