Phillips ready for Solon battle

FREE! Iowa City Regina wide receiver Nick Phillips knows that his
team will have a large target on their back throughout the 2014 football season.

It all starts in the season opener against an elite Class 3A opponent in Solon.
"They are always pretty tough. We always play them good because it has been a
big rivalry the past five or six years. It will be a good game. Last year we
came in there and played great. Hopefully we can do the same thing."
Phillips has high hopes for what his club can accomplish.
"I think I had a really good year. We have most of the skill players back and
a couple of linemen coming in. We have to make sure we get it done and we'll
have a great season."
There are a few areas that Phillips feels can help his team achieve another
championship.
"I think we have to have success on the defensive and offensive lines. We
have a lot returning but we have to continue getting it done. That will be key."
Phillips was able to get to one summer camp due to a busy summer.
"I went to Northern Illinois but didn't have a lot of time with baseball. I
thought (the camp) went pretty good. I wanted to get a better time in the 40 but
I got some pretty good reps in."
The focus has switched over to football as of late for Phillips.
"I've played catch five or six times with Drew (Cook). Once baseball
finished, I've been getting ready and getting healthy for the season."
Phillips has had a few colleges touching base with him as of late.
"It has been Upper Iowa, Grandview, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois, and
some Wisconsin schools like Platteville and Lacrosse."
